Weekend Confetti Vol. 20

May 22, 2021

Welcome to Weekend Confetti!

Here you will find your weekly dose of interesting and merry miscellany that you didn’t know you needed to know.   I hope it adds some joy to your weekend!  Cheers!

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. I realized that I am woefully ignorant of the history or the challenges of the Asian community in this country.

First off, who are we talking about when we say AAPI?

11 Milestones from Asian American History you should know.

7 Asian American movie recommendations that center around Asian American culture and relationships.

AAPI Heritage Month Book Recommendations from the NYPL.

May 22 is also National Solitaire Day! Yep, that’s right! Solitaire has been such a popular game for Microsoft that they gave it its very own holiday in 2018!

The original form of Solitaire (before it was introduced to the computer in 1990) originated back in the 18th century.

There are several main types to choose from and better decision making is a benefit of regular play!

Not to mention the number of AH-mazing card decks there are to choose from! I seriously had no idea. Some favorites: Minimalist National Parks, Feel Your Best, Dragonfly & the Mandalorian.

The smell of famous books.

The question to never ask a bibliophile.

The Counterculture of Commitment

The Custody Arrangement in the Parent Trap: Reflections from the Judge who approved it     (Hilarious.)

Things to let go of to be more productive. (They’re not what you think.)

Need more joy in your life? I wrote this about how to add joy to your enviornment.

The best way to bring nature sounds indoors (and my best find of the week!)

And if you need some other relaxing sounds, try legos. No, really.

What IS fast fashion, anyway?

A sustainability tool for Amazon I’m curious to try.

A Chat with Stacy London (of What Not to Wear fame) about growing older. (Love her!)

Ways to compliment a woman not based on appearance.

The ripple effect of Kindness Rocks. (This made me smile.)

This week’s Kindness Intention: to leave some fun guerilla art in the places I visit this week. Butterflies, googly eyes or paper flowers are a few ideas I’m considering.

A fun surprise is a great way to brighten someone’s day!

And here is some kindness I found out in the world to make you smile at the goodness of people.

And lastly, a girl and her dog

What is a Kindness Intention?

It is a way of keeping kindness more intentional in my own life by setting a weekly goal of kindness. And hopefully inspiring you to do something kind in your own world!
