Weekend Confetti Vol. 5

Feb. 6, 2021

Welcome, Joy Ambassadors!

Here you will find your weekly dose of interesting and merry miscellany that you didn’t know you needed to know.   Enjoy!

Tomorrow is SuperBowl LV. (That’s #55 for us non-Roman types.) If you were wondering why it’s actually ‘Super’ (and why the Roman numerals), here you go.

This year’s event is a historic one because it represents two firsts: one for women and one for football.

Everything you need to know about it is right here.

And I am officially giving you permission to have wings, nachos and sliders.  Because, YUM.

Personally, I’m going to make this yummy looking dip. I might share. I haven’t decided.

February is Black History Month, when we recognize the achievements of African Americans and their role in American history.  This year especially I feel like it is an important opportunity to expand my perspective.

As a middle-aged white woman, I have struggled with how exactly to express my support of the black community. It can be hard to know what to do.  And it can also be really uncomfortable.

Someone smarter than myself suggested that instead of asking a bunch of questions of others, perhaps to try to do some research for myself first. (Thanks, Shawna, that’s actually something I am really good at!) Here is a great resource to begin.

And an interesting conversation about soul vs. southern.

Check out my specially curated shelf on Goodreads to find some books about black history and by black authors that are on my personal TBR list.

This weekend I want to watch this documentary. And this one is on my list.

I have registered for this discussion happening this Tuesday.

And this event is going on the calendar. I have read amazing things.

You have 7 more days until Valentine’s Day.

Just enough time to discover your love language and to consider a better way to talk about love.

For some fun but simple (and inexpensive) ways to show your love, check out my Pinterest board.

And if you are looking for an out-of-the-ordinary gift, try giving an online class!  The perfect social-distancing gift for the reader, the wanna-be fashionista, the artist and the budding seamstress or photographer.

(That last one is put out by the lovely Rachel, who is a fellow business-builder and quite talented!)

If you are looking for a slightly more traditional gift, I recommend food and/or flowers.

On the blog this week I’m talking about how to show your own life some love: the first in a series of three posts to help you love some specific areas of your life a little more intentionally.

I don’t watch a lot of real-time television, but this week I’m looking forward to spending a couple hours with Clarice and with Robyn.

And if you didn’t see this video from last weekend…get ready to smile. (I’ve watched it a few times. Okay, like 8.)

Have a Joy-filled Weekend!!
